Ranking

How It Works:

Like many other organizations, we offer a system for members to rank up. Ranking up in the First Ohio means that you have displayed leadership, integrity, and respect in the execution of our mission. All members will start out as a Private, and will work their way up from there. Officer positions are restricted to board members due to their significance in ceremonial events. We work closely with local veterans organizations who expect our officers to be capable of performing the necessary ceremonial duties required of them.

How To Rank Up

Ranking up is simple in concept, as members need only participate in order to have the opportunity for promotion.

Why Ranks Are Important

As previously mentioned, officer ranks are reserved for the board because officers are expected to be trained on ceremonial duties necessary for specific events. Further, we utilize a ranking system to offer an immersive experience at events. Those who have been in the organization longer are naturally more qualified to perform certain duties. It is important to remember that our ranking system is supposed to be fun and rewarding, and new members can rest assured that they will be offered the same immersive experience regardless of rank.

Exceptions

We ask that members try their best to model their impressions after their rank. However, exceptions can be granted under specific circumstances. For instance, a member wanting to model an impression after a specific person might be granted that rank for re-enactment purposes only. Further, it ought to be noted that members do not have to utilize their organization rank in their impressions. For instance, a Sergeant is able to make a Corporal rank impression.
